JOSHUWA
Roster / Marc Smeesters
From Brussels, Joshuwa — also known as Thomas Ejzyn — unravels convention to deliver hybrid, pop-infused, visceral melodies, songs in which melancholy seeps through electronic basslines and finely tuned hip-hop influences. Set for early 2026, Mélancologie, Joshuwa’s debut EP, is far from a simple calling card: it’s a true statement of intent. Launched as an early scout in June, the single Pollen sets the tone — no half-measures here, just raw, upfront poetry.
This shift toward French-language songwriting, begun only a few months ago, was never part of a career plan. Raised on indie rock and frontman of the Brussels band Colver, Joshuwa had always preferred the flavors of Britpop to the singular feel of melodies sung in French. But when the urgency to speak took over, English became too comfortable a veil. No more escape: writing in his mother tongue meant confronting his own cracks and facing certain truths head-on. Between sentimental wandering and urban melancholy, the lyrics carried by Joshuwa weave a cinematic imagery. Like in a Cédric Klapisch film, the singer casts a tender, slightly bitter gaze on an age suspended between carefreeness and clarity.
Behind its vintage allure, Mélancologie is firmly rooted in its time. Co-produced by Felix De Wolf (39bermuda) and Louis Potin Paraisot (Stéphane Galland, Edouard van Praet), the project juggles analog textures and innovative production. Joshuwa’s first EP thus emerges as a manifesto: sincere, abrasive, and above all, incredibly refreshing. With Pollen as its opening act, Joshuwa sets the scene and promises a bright future for French pop.
