ARUMBO is the nomadic musical project of Marta Meix Garcia (Barcelona) and Jonas Mertens (Brussels), born in 2015, which fuses, through its travels, Rumba and Reggae with Middle Eastern influences. The melodies of their songs come from the heart and invite you to dance. 

They are inspired by social demands, and are both festive and subtle. The multi-talented combination of musicians will have you dreaming and will fill the stage with a positive and mystical energy. 

After 3 years spent travelling, creating and playing on major stages they managed to produce a powerful debut album, ‘Camino de Vuelta’, independently published by the alternative label Gaser Discos (ESP), finished in November 2018, recorded by Gorik De Smet and mixed and mastered by Joel Condal in the mythical studio ‘Grabaciones Silvestres’ (Ojos de Brujo, Chambao, Amparanoia and others of these influences).

2022 saw the release of the ‘Transiro’ EP, highlighted by various collaborations with ‘Jah Chango’, David from ‘Chicos y Mendez’ and ‘La Pegatina’.

Mirada Transversal’, released in 2023, is a more introspective and highly personal work, an invitation to connect with that mysterious space of spirituality that we all carry within us. Songs that invite us to let ourselves be carried away by sounds that transport and harmonise us. Lyrics that convey emotions and tell us about things, experiences, feelings, animals, subtle worlds... A beautiful and powerful combination of love and the desire to share.

‘Mirada Transversal’ is a work by Arumbo with musicians and artists from different backgrounds in collaboration with producer Joel Condal and Jairo Palchukán, an indigenous musician and multidisciplinary artist from the Kamsá community in the Colombian Amazon and a member of the Grupo Putumayo. 

Depending on the scene and the circumstances, Arumbo can offer a more intimate or more festive concert, or even a mixture of the two, always inspired by the heart and the chapter they are going through, valuing the message and the people they are working with.
